Same sex science
I understand that Morgan Spurlock and company has given everyone here an icon to hate when it comes to all things same sexed.

I was wondering how many people out there actually realized that there is a lot of research out there that addresses issues of socialization of children from same sex couples. There is evidence supporting the idea that children lose out without having role models of both sexes. This doesn't mean a friend who comes over once in awhile or a therapist etc. This is someone that would be in the child's life everyday as a primary care giver. This isn't just about same sex parents it's also about primarily single parents as well. There are studies and there is evidence showing an impact and decline in socialized growth once a child is out of a two parent opposite sex oriented arrangement.

Am I saying that same sexed couples shouldn't be able to adopt?  Of course not. (though i do think that private adoptions agencies should be able to choose who their clientel is). What I am saying is making the argument about religion because you saw a religious person talking about it on t.v. is just as silly as the argument that "god said so". This is a real issue. Real people debate about it without the thoughts are comments from "god".

Also there are non religious folk out there who don't agree with g a y marriage. I don't but it's because i don't believe that the government has any right to enter into a relationship contract. I will never support g a y marriage because i do not believe in laws that further such a ridiculous concept.

Thinking the only opinion out there against this that or another comes from those who are into god is silly. You have something about someone's faith and think it to be a cult... fine. That does not negate the entire argument. Thinking that wins the argument is just as silly as thinking "god said so" wins the argument.

expectations
I've noticed a lot of people say that Katie from the gay adoption episode should get her head out of the Bible or what have you. Though her point isn't well executed look who is producing the show.

Excuse Mr Spurlock but your bias is showing.

I don't doubt that she may not be the most effective orator when it comes to this subject but i also don't trust someone who gains to profit from turning our country into a group of "us" and "them"s. Remember that these shows are edited. Katie may at some point in time had a beautiful, honest, well educated, non religious argument against gay marriage... I don't think you would have seen it. That wouldn't have actually made good television.

My point is this:

Remember that a community of people are asking for acceptance and tolerance of the rest of society (and it's a HUGE rest of society percentage speaking). In some cases they aren't asking as much as lobbying and trying to force that acceptance onto people.  While you are arguing their point why don't you lead by example and give that to the apposing side. If not you've pretty much already lost the battle.

Katie is entitled to her opinions as much as everyone else in this world. She's entitled to her heritage up breaking and political views. She is entitled to have her voice heard via voting  (something that isn't always done in this country... letting people vote).

Should gay people be able to adopt? of course they should! but if the majority of America doesn't agree with me on that I'm not going to force it down their throat and tell them that they are all defective for their beliefs.

Shame on you
I just watched the episode for the Animal Rights 30 days. I was hoping against hope that PETA would not be involved that maybe per chance someone would find a responsible animal rights activist who is *against* PETA.

This show has put someone who is open minded wanting to learn about animal rights into a house who is affiliated with PETA the most irresponsible group on the face of this planet. This guy doesn't know that PETA kills 90% + of the animals they take in. They don't know that PETA is *against* pets. Or that PETA focuses on children and is a lobbying machine to get laws passed to allow propaganda in our schools. He doesn't know that PETA has monetarily supported ALF (a terrorist group) in the past and that they continue to support their ideas in the future. He doesn't know about the "your mother is murderer" youth posters. He doesn't even know what is wrong with this group.

So what happens? This entire show is about PETA. This entire show humanizes people who in cold blood kill kittens and puppies in a van and dumps them in a trash can and doesn't even mention that fact. Shame on this show for being so one sided. A hunter is *not* the opposite of a PETA member. An anti peta group member is the opposite. What about Penn Jillete? or those people in the peta kills animal groups? You know people who have facts when it comes to this group? Wouldn't that be a wonderful idea and a true show about trading places.
