The writers have done a good job setting the table: Dutch and Claudette reunited to bust Vic, Shane on his last leg running, Vic scrambling to avoid prison. Strike Team kaput. Ronnie only man left with a job, Danni out of the picture (hopefully for good).
A 1-hour finale just won't cut it. Sure there won't be a "killer of the week" subplot to fill time, but there's just too much to sew up without a feature film- length ending. I want it to be about VIC and SHANE meeting their demise, whatever it is, with other cast members getting hit with the shrapnel.
And none of that Danni's lovechild B.S. ruining the action.
Way too much cartel stuff and not enough Shane vs Vic stuff. Vic had Ro nnie make the drop, which allowed Shane to keep his leverage over Vic since he didn't get caught for aiding a fugitive. Win-win for Shane but his luck will probly end there. Now they have something solid on Ronnie, who was previously clean compared to Vic.
The whole episode felt like a jag-off with nothing really happening, with 2 eps left there should be more going on.
....Dave might have to put the smack on him, since he was stepping all over his sack and all. Aceveda turned the tables on the guy, and forced him into Witness Protection. I think Aceveda's an ok guy, he wants to be a good mayor for LA but he'll never do it with these Cartel guys pulling his strings.
Just how much can Vic do without his badge? I contemplated this last season when the department was trying to 'squeeze him out'... If Vic isnt a cop he can't beat people up and threaten them without risking jail. In this late hour it's interesting to see him struggle with basic things like getting intel from elderly pharmacists regarding Shane's kid. He pulled his gun and the cops almost vaporized him.
Obviously Shane has major problems trying to evade the cops with a sick son and a pregnant wife. Do you know how stressful it is to hide on your own let alone dragging around a loud bratty kid?
Their desicision to squat in the vacant mansion is risky, it's an upscale neighborhood, there may be security patrols that Maura doesn't know about. They should be in the mid-west by now, Shane is a hick so they could blend in fairly well. 100 grand would go much further there (renting hotels) too. They seem to be ignoring the fact that Maura's water could break at any second, like if they don't acknowldge it, it won't happen!
This is wack, 4 eps to tie off all this blood doesn't seem enough. Six or seven would be better FX is skimping on us. I realize the Shane is on the run and the candle is burning at both ends but CMON!
The show is taking a drastic turn into the dark territory I've been waiting to see. The days when Lemanski was alive and the Strike Team were cool with eachother seem like a million years ago (though in the show's timeline we're only 9 months after Lem's death, according to Maura's pregnancy).
Dutch's relationship with the redhead broad (high-five bro!) and his partnership with Billings have to be concluded too. Danni left town with Vic's son, I wonder if that will be resolved or even addressed. 4 hours isn't enough time to factor in Terry Crowley's murder or even Corrine's part in all of this. I'm glad that the comfort rug has been yanked from under us, but 4 shows hardly seems adequate.
Check this out for an 'iron-' If Shane had opened fire on those Mexi assassins they would've killed him. No way could one guy with a pistol take out 3 dudes with uzis. He only SURVIVED cause Ronnie jammed his gun up.
Also Claudette started a whole personal campaign against some drug-addicted Public Defender in season 4 but now she's under the same scrutiny. Caludette wanted to re-open her cases (to make sure there were no mistakes by the Public Defender) that sent innocent men to jail. Serial- Killer Clevon accused Claudette of being doped up on steroids at the time of his investigation.
Dutch reached out to Billings because he "needs criticizm of his lofty theories and profiles" during investigsations. Isn't that what Billings does (in a sh i t ty sarcastic way) anyway?
I dont know if the writers are doing this on purpose cause it's the last season but it's cool to watch. I'm glad to see that j e rk Lester show up (ex-cop dude w/ hawiian shirts) from the eviction raid. He has a serious grudge against Vic, and he's violent and unstable enough to be a true threat to Vic's safety. He's too much of a psycho to be thrown out of the mix without causing some mayhem.
I also predict a brutal fist fight between Vic and Puzuela, I know its a cliche but a real slimeball like him needs to square off physically against the good guy.
Years of Strike Team in-fighting and Shane's poor decisions finally boil over in a matter of minutes. This is the biggest tipping point in the series, sure both Shane and Vic are under suspicion for murder but now Shane is a FUGITIVE with every cop in the world gunning for him. Anybody who has run from the cops will tell you it's not a nice feeling but Shane was running from an ENTIRE SQUAD of cops, most of whom know him personally. I can't imagine what that kind of heat feels like. The urgency when Vic and Ron pulled their guns looking for Shane was awesome, they go after bad guys all the time but this time they were hunting one of their own, in the Barn no less!
Now the question is how long can Shane run with two young kids and his wife..... Probly not long, and what possible reason would he have to stay in LA? I can't wait to find out.

This is pretty cool to see my favorite Shield actors popping up in very different personas. Jay Karnes (Dutch on the Shield) looks cool with his gray hair as a bad-a s s ATf agent. On the Shield he's such a dork.
<***** Pearlman was born to play a Gang leader, we've seen him as H e l lboy, various mercs in the movies, as far as I know he's never been a biker. (though i'm probly wrong, the dude's been in like 1000 movies) I wanna see these actors really show their stuff!
Shoot he's one of the last people I thought Id see in the Barn again His return was well written, he provided tension and gave Shane a good jolt of insecurity, just when Ron and Vic turned on him and he needed it the least!!!
Lets hope Hyatt AKA Mr. BORING never comes back. Katy Seagall and Carl Weathers are welcome though.
Vic is about to set Shane up to be killed by gansters and this way he can have an alibi so the whole Terry situation can be avoided. Shane will survive and will feel utterly betrayed ofcourse, since he was trying (sincerely I think) to re-gain Vic's trust and friendship. This will spark the war between them once again which is what I ve wanted to see baby!
Vic also has rising tensions from his daughter, Danni and Aceveda. Cassidy is acting out cause she feels Vic is a liar and a hypocrite which is interesting cause you can bet if he wasn't a dirty cop she'd be a perfectly-behaved teenager.
Danni dosent want Vic around their lovechild which is understandable but Vic won't go away because he wants a son who isn't autistic. Aceveda probably blames Vic for getting his political buddy clipped. Now Shane's gonna want payback for an attempt on his life talk about trouble on all sides!!
The show is going down a real political path , getting away from the feud between Vic and Shane.... I don't even know if they're gonna do battle like we've been promised.
Shane and Vic are almost homies again, with Vic somewhat sympathising with him over Lem's murder. Something has to drive them apart, but what?
The X-Files chick (blond w/ icy blue eyes) being under Puzeula is a good development, I shoulda seen it coming! She was way too neutral, like just eye-candy for the viewers at home, with no reason to be there. But wait, she's working for the bad guy!! Duh.
Lets hope Vic and Shane are on the outs by the next episode so the destruction can begin
